More than 702,000 Americans have made their homes in our nation’s capital of Washington, D.C. Situated neatly along the banks of the Potomac River, this city is famous for its many federal buildings, historic monuments, and museums. D.C. is home to the Smithsonian Museums — a collection of natural and American history, art, space artifacts and more — that are housed in multiple public buildings along the famed National Mall.

The White House is located in Washington, D.C., along with the U.S. Capital Building, the Washington Monument, and the Thomas Jefferson Memorial.
