Raleigh, North Carolina is in the midst of Phase 3 of the state’s COVID-19 Gradual Reopening Plan. While that has relaxed some of the rules surrounding restaurants, there are still many safety measures in place to protect both customers and employees.
Open for Dine-In
Raleigh’s restaurants are open for dine-in service with some restrictions. Restaurants are only allowed to seat 50 percent capacity inside. Tables and seats are supposed to be distanced to allow space between patrons. Some stools at bars are being removed. Restaurants with outdoor seating, including expanded patios, tents, and parking lot spaces, must distance the tables.
Under city of Raleigh and North Carolina Face Coverings Mandates, employees and customers must wear masks while moving around the restaurant. Diners who are actively eating and drinking may remove their masks while seated.
Raleigh does not allow alcohol sales from 11:00 p.m. until 7:00 a.m each day at restaurants, bars, or stores.
Curbside and Carry Out
Throughout the pandemic Raleigh’s restaurants have been open for curbside pickup and carryout orders. This is a business model that has remained successful for many establishments since the early days of the COVID-19 crisis.
Cleaning and Sanitation
A new, deeper standard of cleaning and sanitation is in place now in Raleigh’s restaurants. Whether the food is being enjoyed inside the restaurant or at someone’s home, restaurant employees are spraying and wiping surfaces like never before.
Many restaurants have adopted QR code technology so that individual diners can access menus on their phones and not touch menus handled by other customers. Patrons are usually handed a new glass with every beverage pour. Some restaurants have installed plexiglass barriers between booths.
Some restaurant owners are taking the extra step and having their businesses deep cleaned once a week.
